Last week, city officials agreed to delay making a decision on a proposal to implement a rental licensing program.
This is good news for Guelph Landlords and investors.
Last year Waterloo implemented a rental licensing program that was not only costly, but very cumbersome for landlords to register for. Along with criminal checks, each landlord was required to provide a valid Electrical Safety Authority and heating and ventilation inspection, as well as garbage removal, parking and maintenance plans, the names of all tenants and copies of any leases.
The initial registration costs for the single landlord are well over 1000.00 with all the costs involved. And that doesn’t even include your time. As well, licenses have to be renewed annually, for a fee!
